History is made again at the Sealy Outdoors 37th Annual Big Bass Splash on Lake Sam Rayburn, TX. Julie Brown from Lubbock, TX made history with her 11.29 pound bass caught in the early morning hours of first day of the tournament.
“I had just made a cast using a carolina rig with a red shad lizard when my partner told me to get the net, he had a bass on so I dropped my rod, got the net and netted his bass that might have weighed about 2 lbs. When I picked up my rod I felt a thump but I thought I was hung up until I felt another one and I set the hook. I told my partner, you get the net, she is a big one.” Julies’ partner saw the huge bass try to come out of the water and immediately got the net and saw the big bass coming to the front of the boat. He immediately put the net in the water and the big bass went into the net and almost jerked it out of his hand. He lifted the big bass into the boat and put her in the live well and they both gave each other a high five and headed to the weigh in. “I was so nervous and shaking so bad, because I was so excited it was my biggest bass ever”. The rest is history because Julie is only the second woman in history to be the overall winner of a Sealy Outdoors “Big Bass Splash” event. She netted over $110,000 in cash & prices in addition to her hourly winnings, she took home a Triton 21 TrX Powered by Mercury, equipped with Minn Kota, Lowrance, Navionics & Power Pole; a RAM Truck; Plus $10,000 CASH………..
