It all started in 1984 when Bob Sealy, a Texas angler had a vision to have put on a bass fishing tournament where anyone could potentially win and also where a lot of people had a shot at winning a decent purse. Since then Bob Sealy, CEO and creator of the BIG BASS SPLASH has been producing amateur hourly fishing tournaments for the amateur angler. The well know BIG BASS SPLASH is considered to be the world’s largest amateur hourly big bass fishing tournament and has been featured on a National Geographic television special.

The BIG BASS SPLASH tournaments attract thousands of amateur anglers to these weekend contests on some of the country’s best trophy bass lakes. Guides on those lakes and top-level professional anglers are not allowed to compete. Instead, we target everyday anglers, including children, with these fun and festive tournaments.

Weigh-ins are held hourly, with as many as 15 big bass each hour earning a share of the prize money. A radio station broadcasting live at tournament sites announces the official start each morning of the events and also broadcast live updates as bass are being weighed in each hour. If you can beat the weights for the hour then you weigh your fish, if not you pick and choose which hour you can cash in.

Boat checks and random polygraphs are administered at the end of each hour prior to contestants going back to fish. At the conclusion of the tournament, the top five heaviest bass weighed in during the event will win the overall grand prizes. There are other ways you can win valuable prizes, such as exact weights, early bird entries and random elimination drawings. In addition to these we have the “Optional Bonus” games where “You Can’t Win If You Don’t Play!”

Since our creation, we have produced many benefit fishing tournaments and have raised millions of dollars in donations for a variety of charity organizations: St Jude Children’s Research Hospital,  Ronald McDonald House, McDonald’s Select Children’s Charities, as well as, March of Dimes, Boys Haven, and Make a Wish Foundation to name a few.

We work all year long to make these events happen and we are blessed to have a team of extraordinary people who take time off from their busy work schedules to come together to make the BIG BASS SPLASH  tournaments successful. Many of them have been with us for a very long time.
